My Autel tablet says "The device cannot communicate with the control unit".
Solution
First check the voltage in the upper right corner.
When the voltage is 0v:
1. Check if the VCI is successfully connected via Bluetooth.
2. Check if the VCI is successfully connected via the USB cable, if not, update the VCI firmware.
3. For devices without VCI, go to Settings >> Firmware Update and try changing the test lead.
If the voltage is 12V:

Autel Bluetooth cannot connect
Solution
1. Enter settings, forget and re-pair Bluetooth, and check whether the connection is successful.
2. Check whether the VCI can be successfully connected to the tablet via a USB cable.
3. Check whether the VCI firmware can be successfully upgraded via a USB cable.
4. Check whether the VCI or tablet can be successfully connected to other devices. If it cannot be connected, please contact Autel after-sales.

Autel tablet prompts: "VIN decoding failed."
Solution
1. AutoVIN failed: There is no VIN on this ECU or this model does not currently support automatic reading.
2. Manual VIN decoding failed: This model does not currently support reading.
3. Manually select the vehicle model (model, year, engine, etc.) to enter the system. Users can upload logs at each step of Autel analysis.

Can Autel unlock the VW SFD Gateway?
Solution
Yes, you can unlock the VW SFD Gateway by following the steps below:
- 1.Confirm the vehicle supports DoIP and press “Yes” to continue.
- 2.Enable access to the 19-Gateway and disable the diagnostic firewall.
- 3.Note that the Vehicle Diagnostic Protection (SFD) is locked and copy the request info, system data, and VIN.
- 4.Visit vaglogins.com, log in or create an account, and purchase SFD gateway credits.
- 5.Use the SFD Generator to enter the VIN, select token type, paste login info, enter address 0019, and apply for the SFD token.
- 6.Copy the generated SFD token from the website.
- 7.Return to the manual unlock page, paste the token, and unlock the SFD.
- 8.Confirm the SFD status shows unlocked (valid for 90 minutes per token).
- 9.Exit to the Maintenance menu and select Oil Reset.
- Perform any of the six available resets such as oil reset or maintenance interval adjustment.
