Step-by-Step Car Key Cloning with Autel AT100

There are many types of car keys, including traditional mechanical keys, transponder keys with chips, and smart keys used in almost all the latest cars. The transponder chip is an essential component of both semi-mechanical keys and smart keys. Although the chip is small, it is crucial for starting the vehicle.

A damaged chip will render the key unusable. Sometimes, the key case you buy doesn't contain a chip, making it impossible to clone or program the key. The Autel AT100 transponder chip, Autel's latest key programming tool released in 2025, easily solves the above problems. It is inexpensive, powerful, and meets the needs of key programming.

So how do you clone a car key using the Autel AT100, and what kind of key programmer should you use with it? Today, we'll take the Autel KM100 as an example to explain in detail the entire process of cloning a car key using the Autel AT100, and answer some of your questions about the Autel AT100.

    What is the Autel AT100?

The Autel AT100 is a new key transponder chip launched by Autel in 2025. It can be used with Autel key programming tools such as the Autel KM100 and Autel IM508S to perform advanced functions such as key cloning and programming.

The AT100 super chip can replace various car key chips. It supports cloning ID11, ID12, ID13, ID46, ID47, ID48, ID49, ID4A, ID4C, ID5C, ID4D, ID64, ID8A, ID8C, and MQB chips. However, some cars have higher security levels with their IMMO systems, requiring the use of the Autel XP400 or XP400PRO to read certain key chips.

    AT100-Compatible Key Programmers

The Autel AT100 is compatible with all Autel key programmers, which can work with KM100 KM100E IM508 IM508S IM608 PRO II IM608 II. However, the choice depends on the complexity of the car key and the chip type of the original key.

This is because the Autel AT100 cannot replace all chips for cloning. Furthermore, it is not suitable for all models with high-security IMMO systems; some models even require key programmers like the XP400 Pro for operation.

How to Perform Key Cloning Using AT100?

The following instructions for key cloning using the Autel AT100 are based on the Autel KM100. The steps may differ slightly when using other key programmers.

Step 1: Correctly Connect the Key Programmer

The Autel KM100 is equipped with MaxiVCI V200, which supports wireless Bluetooth connection between the car and the key programmer via the OBD II port. Inserting the lower-level unit into the OBD II port on the driver's side establishes a connection between the Autel KM100 and the car.

Step 2: Select the Reading/Cloning Menu to Enter

Open the KM100 main interface, select the Reading/Cloning menu, place the original key to be cloned into the sensing area, read it, and determine whether it can be cloned and whether its transponder chip type is replaceable by Autel AT100.
